Jacoby’s Santa Wish

Josh and I had devised a plan about Christmas this year to cut down on costs of gifts for the kiddos. Jacoby is so blessed and loved that our house constantly looks like a toy grenade went off. So we asked Jacoby if Santa could bring him 1 gift this year and give the rest to other children who aren’t as lucky as him. He smiled and agreed and then went about his business deciding what to ask for when he sees Santa.

Well Jacoby is a amazing boy and touched my heart today with his inquisitive mind. “Mom what about the kids at my hospital? Can Santa take them my gifts?” when we were discussing Christmas and I was reminding him of the 1 gift rule. Well our small scheme to save money has shifted into Jacoby’s wish to take his Santa gifts to his friends at Children’s Hospital in Omaha.

So here’s my plan: Kenley has many bows and blooms that she has not worn yet that will be given to the hematology/oncology clinic because the little girls with cancer lose their hair so they like wearing bows in place of their hair. They stick them on crochet bands and rock them like theres no tomorrow. We will be making this donation in honor of Brinkley Chandler who passed away this year due to an inoperable brain tumor.

I will be taking $50 that was allotted for a family Christmas gift and buying toys then we as a family will go help Jacoby deliver the toys to Children’s. The rule there is they have to be brand new because of germs so I was thinking some hot wheels dolls ect.

I called the foundation and got approval and will keep you posted. I just thought it was amazing how a 4 1/2 year old can remind us what the season is about. It is about caring and loving and being thankful for what you have.

Dum dee dum dum dum

The title describes my mind’s amount of work that it is capable of right now. 24 hours 4 nursing tests and 5 hours of sleep. And a cherry bagel. That describes how my life has been right about now. Its safe to say now that I’ve passed each test, not to hte best of my ability, but still passed and hell week number 2 of this semester is over! And its a downhill slide to the end. I can see lots of housework in my future over Christmas break. My poor house has been so neglected and I’ve finally bought filing folders for the many insurance papers that keep procreating on my counters and table. I went through Jacoby’s toys the other day and threw out 3 walmart bags of toys. I’m not kidding. And the kid still has more toys than Macy’s toys section. I asked what he wanted for Christmas and his response was “everything”. That’d be Josh’s son right there.

This weekend Jacoby had a constant whine on. And i’m not just meaning when he asked for things. Im talking 100% of every word, phrase and sigh that came out of him was a whine. We had pictures on Saturday to help a friend out with her sister’s children’s boutique and he had to be bribe the whole time. Then Sunday we went to the zoo to meet the inlaws for family pics and he had to be told cookies and gift shop cookies and gift shop. This was ontop of my cold and need to study. But today a new leaf has turned as he helped Josh this morning while he was getting ready and then got the Leader student of the Month at his school! I’m so proud of him! He was a good listener and showed his fellow students how to work hard. I swear 4 year olds are as moody as a pregnant woman.

Kenley is getting so chubby! I shouldn’t use that word to describe her but the rolls on her thighs are soooo cute! She is finally starting to really put weight on and is eating 5 ounces in one setting. We just now are starting to try food again (last time she didn’t poop) and it’s going ok. She really doesn’t care for it more or less eats it because its in her mouth. She now ‘yells’ and ‘lectures’ which is very much needed in this house. Last night Jacoby tried to pick her up and he let him hear it. She is now attached to a giraffe named Sophie which squeaks and smells like rubber. It is like baby crack. Jacoby also likes ‘borrowing’ it from her as well.

Well in other exiting news last night we had water in our basement as well as running down our driveway. After an assessment today they fear our front yard sprinkler water line broke. SO its not a huge emergency other than that the water could cause a sink hole. Sweet. Not like I liked our front yard anyhow.

Right now Kenley is swinging and Jacoby is trying to get me to smell his armpits. Yes his new thing is after bathtime you have to smell his feet and armpits. I dont know where he got it from but he really gets upset if you dont smell them. His new joke lately is “how do you makr a kleenex dance? Put a booger in it!” Close enough right?! he cracks me up because he is always laughing at his jokes. He will just say poop or fart and crack up. Hes 100% boy.

Well I get to go to bed early tonight and not crack a book. Tomorrow it is careplan writing and enjoying no test! Hope you like the pic from the photo shoot Saturday. I can’t wait to see more pics that was just a sneak peek!

Sorry its been awhile. Unfortunately I got locked out of this for 1 week because I got confused on my password and after too many attempts it booted me. SMH only in Shonda’s world lol. Well 2 weeks have passed and let me catch you up! I’m still passing classes and ready for Turkey day. I need a break! Jacoby has been in school working on his braille and trying hard. He was being sneaky tho. There is a game they play called tactile treasures. Its where they play a game with their eyes closed and use their fingers to find where the pages are different. Jacoby earned quite a few stickers and I was saying how proud of him I was when he leaned over and said “i peek mom thats my secret!” What a stinker! So I told him to promise to never peek again which he did, then told Mary, his braille teacher.

In these 2 weeks Jacoby had been hit with a sinus infection and Kenley a nasty cold. They are getting over them but the lack of sleep is killing me! Now today I felt that tickle and am praying that it doesnt hit me.

I’ve started Christmas shopping(i know be surprised its not last minute!) and this year my goal is to buy from smaller shops or homemade items. And of course all my fave little girls got blooms and bows if they wear them.  I also found a shop that does homemade sock monkeys and I’m also doing fam pics for the inlaws since theirs need updating. As for my kiddos Jacoby and I had a long talk one afternoon and we’ve come to the agreement that Santa will only get them stocking stuff and 1 gift. The reason is because there are a lot of children in the world who dont have a lot of toys so we are telling Santa to give the other presents to them. Jacoby’s kind of proud of this 🙂 and then him and Kenley will get 3 gifts because thats the number of gifts that Jesus got on his birthday. Hes ok with that and should be because to be honest I have no idea what to get him or Kenley! Josh and I aren’t getting/exchanging gifts since we used it up in OCtober on our colorado trip so that makes it easier.

Josh has been in the hunting mood. Driving me crazy I tell you between the hunting shows and then him trying to go out any chance he gets I’m definately over it. He got a 5 by 5 (10 point) with his bow Monday night and I hinted that his hunting season may be over until I’m on break from school. He is getting ANOTHER head mounted (damn deer) but it goes in the man cave with the acknowledgement that he can’t mount anymore unless its bigger and only 2 dead deer on the wall at a time. Jacoby was pretty excited that Dad caught a deer though.

Kenley is 5 months and goodness she has probably gained a pound in a week! Watch out now I have a feeling these rolls will soon multiply on her thighs and wrists. Shes laughing and rolling (somewhat) and cooing along with the raspberry sounds. Shes quite a person now and is funny to watch when she gets annoyed with Jacoby because she will try to roll away from him lol

Well I have soo much coming up but I’m glad i got back on. Hope to be on tomorrow night!

Sorry I’ve been a little absent with test after test along with a naughty little boy thinking that putting a poptart in the dvd player and other actions like that I have been busy! This weekend made for an interesting one as now Kenley shrieks..yes..shrieks. I am pretty sure it must be a girl thing because other mothers I’ve talked to have said ‘”oh yeah I remember those days” but moms of boys are confused by this shrieking. This is how I know its coming full circle from when I’m a child. And she once again dislikes car rides. And she lets you know. As we were driving from home from Lincoln she started complaining and Jacoby pipes up “Mom Kenley doesn’t like the car and shes driving me crazy!” hahaha its only the beginning buddy.

We had Husker Heroes this weekend which is a gathering of athletes from all sports, football included, come and hang out with disabled people from all avenues such as autism, downs, spinda bifida ect ect. This was our second year and it was soo much fun! Jacoby of course went sporting his shirt and Kenley was dressed in her leg warmers and hair bloom. It was nice ot get out and see these people take their time to play game with the kids.

Today was Halloween and Jacoby was up at 6 am to remind us that he gets to be Batman! He wore his costume at school, daycare, and then out tonight. We hit up Nye street which is where the rich people live lol. So they were handing out whole candy bars not just the fun size so Jacoby kept saying “jackpot!” hahaha he got that from his dad. It was a nice evening but now its a downhill slope straight to Christmas. Yipes!

Well I’ll be on again tomorrow. Hope you all had a fantastic day and saw lots of cuties. Mine were pretty adorable 🙂
